VIS Track and Field athletes strong in lead up to Worlds

On Friday night at the Bislett Games in Oslo, VIS athlete Collis Birmingham was in awesome form running another personal best of 13.14.43 in the 5000m race. This time is two seconds better that Birmingham’s previous best.
Fellow VIS athlete, Sean Wroe finished fourth in his 400m event in a time of 45.74.

VIS and Australian 1500m champion, Jeff Riseley ran a time of 3.51.25 in the Dream Mile at the Bislett Games in Oslo, crossing the line in fifth place to take him to third position on the Australian all time list. Riseley is in great form heading into his next event, the Golden League event in Rome.

On Saturday night at the Madrid Grand Prix, VIS athlete Madeleine Pape posted her second world championship B qualifier in the women’s 800m, placing sixth with a time of 2:00.70. Pape who has been selected in the women’s 4 x 400m relay team for the World Championships in Berlin will now turn her attention to the world university games which commence in Belgrade on Tuesday.

At the Gold Coast Half Marathon, VIS athlete Lisa Jane Weightman smashed her personal best to win the event in a time of 1hr.10.42. Weightman led throughout the event to win easily.
